Please join for a discussion with Thomas Plate, as he reflects on the relationship between theory and practice in his experience, drawing on his new book, In the Middle of the Future, and a recent article written with SIR Professor and Director of the Korean Studies Institute, David Kang in the Journal of East Asian Studies.
Plate is distinguished scholar of Asian and Pacific studies at Loyola Marymount Univer-sity, founder of the Asia Pacific Media Cen-ter and Asia Pacific Arts, Director and Found-er of Pacific Perspectives Media Center, and internationally syndicated column-ist for papers such as the South China Morning Post, The Straits Times, The Ja-pan Times, The Korea Times, and The Jakarta Post. Plate was editor of the edi-torial pages of the Los Angeles Times and an LATimes op-ed columnist.
